Sydlox (G. Crossley)

It is hard to write something about yourself, but I’m going to try!
Basically I have started up this site to promote my own music (and fellow musicians), and I have co-written every track on this site.
I started my live career singing and playing sax with ‘The Never Again With Rob Barham Band’.

Then in the early 90’s started playing sax and singing (alongside Charlie Tate), in the band ‘The T.C.s’ (The Trip Cadets), touring the south of England for 2 years.

In 1992 I played a small saxophone part on ‘James’ (No 1 album) titled ‘7’.

I then had several small studio based projects, which is when I met Mark Hawkes, and from these meetings we formed the band ‘Boom Devil’.
Whilst working under the name Boom Devil, Mark and I have programmed and produced the band ‘Senser’, also working with top producers like ‘Arthur Baker’.
We have done 3 remixes for Senser (one got regular daytime airplay, on radio 1).We also did a remix for ‘The Utah Saints’, and several remixes for ‘Flying Rhino Records’.
We have co written music with Chris Bowden (saxophonist), for television.
We have written the music score for a pilot television program titled ‘Totally Frank’.
Boom Devil released an album titled ‘Rumble’ (featured on this site), and 2 singles ‘Over You’ and ‘Life Is’, Which all received a considerable amount of radio play.
Mark and I also release tunes under the name ‘FreaQ’.

Also during this period (approx 1994), I started a studio band with Charlie Tate (6’8”) called ‘King Kooba’, later joined by Matt Harris. I released a few things (on the 220 and Second Skin record label) with them before parting company.

Just after this I joined the ‘Blue Train’ posse (with John Beer and Steve O’sullivan), releasing tunes under the names ‘Echo Freaks’ and ‘Blue Train’. After this we formed a band called ‘The Itones’, and released an EP ‘Red Eye Dubs’, and had tracks released on ‘Blue Train’, ‘Dubhead’, and ‘Guidance’ record labels. We are presently working on a new album titled ‘Return Of The Itones’, to be released this year.

Also around this period I formed a studio band with Paul Soden called ‘Geko’, a hardstep drum+bass band (featured on this site).

Other bands that I started around this time were: Elephant Charge (with Pablo), Slyd (with Slim Preddy), Captain Morgan (with Tim Morgan), Crisp (with Christine Leach). All of these projects are featured on this site.

In the late 90’s I wrote the music for a robot exhibition, in Paris, by Dianne Harris, called ‘Androidgynous Dream‘, which I found challenging and enjoyed very much.

Also over the last 20 years I have been D.J.d in ‘The Jami Sound System’, ‘Warrior Sound System’ and I am presently in ‘The Dubdelic Sound System’ and 'Sweetbeat', playing as far away as Germany.

I hope I didn’t bore you too much! thanks Sydlox.
